As a child

As a child the world is full of wonder and magic. There are things that seem beyond the realm of reality. Like a man dressed in a red suit would deliver toys to all the good little boys and girls or some big rabbit delivered candy carrying a big basket. These are the things that I believed in when I was a child but now know are not real and seem ridiculous now.

Even thought I know they aren’t real I sometimes wish I still believed in them. The magic of the holidays disappeared when I learned the truth. The excitement of waking up and seeing all the toys under the Christmas tree gone and hunting for candy in the yard gone. That magic is what made those moments special. They also created memories that I will never forget as I get older.

So, maybe to believe in something that isn’t necessarily real or beyond the realm of reality is a good thing. Maybe as an adult I need to believe in those ridiculous things to keep me young at heart. I believe these are things that make life worth living and try to bring into my writing.
