To keep the brain exercised I do some free writing each day…at least 250 words and this morning I did some this morning to generate ideas for the book I’m working on. I thought I might include this in my blog…it is part of my process.
Silas- His Adventure Begins
The anger built up inside of him. His father had abandoned them and he wasn’t sure how he wanted to proceed. He needed a plan but without knowing the location of the bum he wasn’t sure what that would be. It would take some time for him to actually get to the point where he would know more so he started to look for work after leaving the orphanage. He stepped out onto the street and looked down the busy street and saw a sign that said ‘Looking for strong abled men to expand to the west’. He was a young man full of adventure in his blood and threw his bag over his shoulder and headed down the street.
The man behind the desk infant of the sign looked him up and down. You could tell by the look in his eye he was pleased with what he saw. Silas was a strong looking young man standing at 6’2” and weighing nearly 200 lbs he was a force to be reckoned with and would fit perfect in the expansion of the railway to the west.
“Hey there young man, what is your name?”
“I’m Silas and looking to get out of here and see the world,” he said with enthusiasm.
The band smiled and said, “You have come to right place. Just sign here and load your stuff up on the truck back there. You are about to see the rest of western Canada.”
Silas grabbed the pen from the man and signed his name elegantly for a man his age and walked over to the truck, jumped on board and rode it to his awaiting adventure.
