Wish They Taught

What’s a thing you wish schools actually taught?

When I was in school I wish they had taught you that it was alright to not go to college and earn a skill. Not everyone is meant to go to college and it felt like that was the only school was preparing you for.

Sure there were shop classes, but they were sometimes limited and the guidance counselors always kept pushing that you had to go to college. They needed to teach you a real skill that you could use if college didn’t work out or you weren’t going.

So yeah, a real skill would have been nice instead of analytical geometry.

  1. Yes, I remember being in high school, we had to opportunity to try out these skills. Many of us spent 4 years of high school, practicing and working these skills, then slid into a career to take them through their lives.

College is not for everyone, and I do wish schools spent more time suiting the educational opportunities to the child instead of trying to suit the child to the education.
