Sometimes I just write using a prompt tool. I think it is fun to share where the writing mind is going.
Pay For Betrayal
The bed creaks, the springs worn from time, and the blankets smell of age. I’m unable to move and notice the gray sky above me. Am I dead?
Suddenly, the earth shakes. I feel as though this rusty old bed will collapse. I look to my left and right, seeing only green grass. How did I get here? My body begins to shake as…and then I wake up.
I feel a tremble in my body, and I’m lying in a pool of my own sweat. I try to move, but I’m unable to. It is as if my body has been strapped down and forced to lie in my own filth and fear.
I look to my left, thank god I can still move my head, and my wife lies there, seeming oblivious to what is happening. Then I hear a cackle.
“You thought you could cheat on me without me knowing?”
I’m at a loss for words but sputter out, “No Matilda,” but that isn’t true, and I know it, and so does she.
“You will spend your nights making atonement for your betrayal of my husband in the rusty bed.”
I can’t believe what she is saying. I was told about this by her but didn’t believe her. She told me she was a witch and just laughed. She warned me if I crossed her, she would make my dreams Hell. Why the hell didn’t I believe her?
“You will live your worst fears strapped to the old bed until it collapses from wear and tear. Those will be the forgiveness of your transgression from me. Once you have been forgiven completely, the dreams will end.” She concludes and rolls back onto her side, facing away from me, and saying “Sweet Dreams.”
I’m back in the dream world with a large spider coming towards me…I hope she forgives me soon.
